The news of the attack only got into Maiduguri, the state capital, on Monday evening due to the remoteness of the area.

Some residents of Takulashi community who fled to Chibok said the insurgents were armed and fired into houses.

Speaking to newsmen, a resident, Bitrus Ali said: “They were not many, but were very armed, shooting and threatening to kill everybody, but we had fled before they came. They set fire on our houses, even throwing bombs into houses. They burnt down more than 60 houses.”

Recall that on April 14, 2014, the Boko Haram insurgents had kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok community. Till date, the girls are yet to be found and rescued.

Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari said there is a possibility that defeating the Boko Haram terrorist may not be feasible in December.

However, report has it that the military is making real progress in ridding Sambisa of the insurgents.

Military sources confirmed that Nigeria Air Force jets have begun a massive bombardment of Sambisa forest.
