Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindo, the governor of
Adamawa state, has apologised to women for being under-represented in
his new appointments.
PM News reports that Jibrilla made the apology while swearing in 49 newly-appointed development area administrators at the government house in Yola, on Tuesday, December 8.
Although only one woman, Esther Pius, made the list of the administrators, the governor assured other women that he would compensate them in future political appointments.
“This is just the first major appointment made by this administration, I want to assure the women that they will be considered in future appointments,” he said
Jibrilla stressed in his speech the administrators were selected on merit and must work toward justifying the confidence reposed in them.
The governor further noted that his administration had started various projects in major towns across the state and would soon reach out to the grassroots.
Addressing the people of the state, Jibrilla urged them to be security conscious and support security agencies in the fight against insurgency.
Speaking on behalf of the administrators, Titus Ndzau, the administrator of Madagali North Development Area, thanked the governor for the appointment and promised to deliver on their mandates.
