War On B'Haram: Victims Task Army

Following the presidential directive to the Nigerian army to flush out Boko Hrama insurgency by the end of December, a group has called the army to redouble its efforts at meeting the deadline.

The group known as Bomb Blast Victims Association of Nigeria made this request in a signed statement bt it chairman, Kayode Olatunji on Wednesday, December 2, Daily Post reports.
Olatunji charged the army to step up its surveillance and information gathering on the activities of terrorists during festive period.

The group pledged with Nigerians to support the fight against insurgency as terrorism constitutes a major threat to the country’s peace.
It said: “This fight is for our corporate existence and survival as a nation,”

“Putting an end to insurgency was surely one of the reasons why Nigerians massively voted for the present Muhammadu Buhari-led Administration of the All Progressive’s Congress, APC.”

Olatunji said that Boko Haram sects had ended the lives of many people, destroyed valuable property and left many families in pains. He added that he is confidence that government would be able to contain the sects force for force and wipe out terrorism in the country.

Nigerians now live in pain, fear and hopelessness due to the tragic conditions in which they have found themselves,” he said.

Meanwhile, security experts are of the belief that it will take more than the Nigerian military to end the war against Boko Haram.

The experts agreed that while the troops have been able to decimate the insurgents and win back lost Nigerian territories, there’s the need for security forces to fish out the insurgents who may be imbedded in the civil populace.
