Reaction Trails Enyimba's Record Breaking 7th League Title

Coach Kadiri Ikhana of Enyimba celebrates victory

Enyimba became champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) a record breaking seventh time on Sunday, November 8, after a 0-0 draw against title contender Warri Wolves.
This feat by the People’s Elephant has seen them become the most successful football club in Nigeria.
The result however meant Warri Wolves will have to wait another season in their pursuit for a first league title.

But in an exclusive chat with Naij.com after the game, Paul Aigbogun, Warri Wolves head coach expressed gratitude to God after he watched his team put up a good fight in Aba.
Aigbogun said: “We thank God for were we are as it’s another season of Continental football for us.
“We take this in good faith and go back to prepare for next season. However, we hope to finish the season high and give our fans something to be happy about in our last home game.”

In the same vein, Kadiri Ikhana reacted to his team’s record-breaking 7th league title.
Ikhana who led the People’s Elephant to the CAF Champions League title in 2003/2014 season, said: “In everything one must thank God so I give God all the glory. We’re happy that we have won the league again.
“I also thank the fans for their support all through the season.  However, we must now regroup and come back stronger next season.”

The Aba Elephants wrapped up the League title with a game to spare, garnering 69 points after 37 round of League matches played.
Enyimba have now won the NPFL title in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2015. They were African Champions in 2003 and 2004.
