President Muhammadu Buhari has met Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II of England at the Commonwealth Heads of Government
meeting on November 27, Friday.
The Head of the Commonwealth officially declares the summit open and
host a banquet in honour of Nigerian president and other participating
Heads of State and Government.
Buhari and other presidents arrived in Malta yesterday, November 26. The world leaders are expected to discuss key issues of interest including climate change and the world economy.
The former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience also attended the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting on October 28, in Perth, Australia.
Nigeria was colonized by Britain in 1885, and became a British protectorate in 1901. Colonization lasted until 1960 until an independence movement succeeded in gaining Nigeria its independence.
