Governors elected on the platform of
the Peoples Democratic Party have alleged advanced plans by the All
Progressives Congress to clone Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and make
use of fake security agents to rig the December 5 election in the
state.
The PDP governors added that as part of the plan to rig the election,
the APC has allegedly brought in Indians to create the clone PVCs in
in order to alter the people’s will in Bayelsa state stating the ruling
party knows that it cannot win without malpractice.
This allegation was made known by the director general of the PDP Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, November 29, where he alleged that about five Indians working for APC were lodged in a hotel owned by an APC chief in Port Harcourt and were already in the process of cloning the cards.
“The APC is desperate to capture Bayelsa state as an oil-producing state which fits into the party’s inordinate ambition to take over all oil-producing states which was proposed by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
“To achieve this dangerous plan, the APC brought in five Indians, all IT experts, to help them clone PVCs for the Bayelsa governorship election. We are raising this alarm so as to alert Nigerians, the INEC and the international community on the machinations of the APC against democracy and the right of the people to freely elect those that should govern them.
“The INEC must demonstrate its independence and commitment to free, fair and credible election by being vigilant and ensure that it does not kowtow to the wimps and caprices of the APC by ensuring that only authentic cards are used, “ the governors said.
The Forum added that the APC has procured police and military uniforms for agents of the party to wear on election day to perfect the rigging of the election.
The governor therefore called on security agencies in the country to live up to expectation and thwarted any move to rig the Bayelsa gubernatorial election in favour any party.
