Faleke Picks Audu’s Son As Running Mate

Faleke, the running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu in the Kogi governorship election, has vowed to retake the mandate of the people of the state given freely to the All Progressives Congress during the poll.

Faleke quoted a section in Constitution picked Mohammed Audu as his deputy in coming poll.
He pointed out that attempts to grab power from the reins of the APC in the state were unproductive as the party is poised to chart a new course for the Kogi.


The politician, who has been chosen as the substitute for the late Abubakar Audu, made this assertion while addressing hundreds of the party’s supporters in Lokoja on Monday.


Faleke clarified that there is no disagreement between him and the immediate political family of late Abubakar Audu and defined the task ahead as a moral burden on him to fight on, till the victory of APC is accomplished.

Some APC chieftains from the three senatorial districts of the state were present as Mr Faleke made his decision known to his supporters.

However, Yahaya Bello, who came second in the August 28 primary which produced Audu, is considered to be the desirable choice of the party for the supplementary poll.


Leaders of the APC are currently meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja to seemingly resolve the Kogi crisis.

Faleke has written a letter to John Oyegun, chairman of the ruling party, claiming that he “remains the governor-elect” and would never surrender his mandate.
