APC Supporters Mourn Murdered Members In Port Harcourt

Thousands of supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from various parts of Rivers state today, November 30 converged at the Polo club to attend a solemn interdenominational service in honour of over 98 supporters killed in election violence in the state during the 2015 general elections.

Prominent APC chieftains and supporters led by Dakuku Peterside, had solemn march from the APC secretariat to the Port Harcourt Polo club, old GRA, Port Harcourt.

Clad in black attire, they were addressed by the APC chairman, Ibiamu Ikanya, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency implement the Prof Chidi Odinkalu Commission of Inquiry report on election violence in the state.

Ikanya said it is only when justice is served that the families of those brutally murdered would feel that loved ones did not die in vein and the souls of the dead will rest in peace.


On his part, Senator Magnus Abe, appealed to APC supporters not to despair or be discouraged because justice will be served no matter how long it takes. Let no one have any doubt that those who were killed died in vein.

“Take it from me,justice will be served.I assure you that Justice will be served. It will be served take it from me.”

On his part, Godsgift Nwankwo, an APC chieftain from Omuma local government area lamented that some APC members are still being attacked by political thugs allegedly working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said: “As our members were coming to Port Harcourt they were attacked at Igwuruta,Ikwerre local Government area and abducted. All are in attempt to make sure they don’t honour APC members killed by PDP.”

At the time of filling this report, news filtered in that at Isaac Boro Park, Mile One Diobu in Port Harcourt some youths wearing white T-shirt attacked APC supporters before they were dispersed by the Police.
The Interdenominational service was on at time of the report.
