PLOT TO REMOVE GOVERNOR OF AKWA IBOM FAILED

Despite the Election Petitions Tribunal ordering a re-run governorship election in 18 out of the 31 local government areas in Akwa Ibom, the All Progressive Congress (APC) have decided to head to the Appeal court to seek redress.
According to This Day, Umana Okon Umana, the APC governorship candidate in the April 11 election demands the total annulment of the election, hence has filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja challenging the judgement of the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on the poll.

In the notice of appeal, Umana and the APC faulted the tribunal judgment on grounds of debacle of justice, urging the Appeal court to remove Governor Emmanuel Udom from office.

The APC also alleged that the April 11 election didn’t comply with the Election Act 2010 and voter guidelines of INEC, at such, a fresh governorship election has to be conducted throughout the state.
